MEDICAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Medical Internship Program of the AAF consists of the Alberto Vilar Medical Internship and the Pro Infantibus Medical Internship. Alberto Vilar Medical Internships are offered to fellows, who have completed a Salzburg Cornell Seminar or Salzburg Duke Seminar. Former Fellows of Salzburg CHOP Seminars and Salzburg Columbia Seminars may apply for The Pro Infantibus Medical Internship.
The objective of the Medical Internship Programs is to further integrate seminar alumni into the international medical community by inviting them to spend a total of three months, ideally in one months increments, at Austrian hospitals. During their stay, fellows are able to see new operating techniques, new medications and modern hospital management. Furthermore, they are able to establish longer term relationships with their Austrian colleagues in the form of ongoing studies between the respective institutions, etc. The internships offer fellows a window to the world of medicine on an ongoing basis.
The internship may be spent at the University Hospital of Vienna, the General Hospital in Salzburg, the University Hospital in Graz, the University Hospital in Innsbruck and other highly respected medical institutions in Austria.
The fellow must submit a comprehensive Report and a Case Study at the conclusion of each internship.
The Alberto Vilar Medical Internship and the The Pro Infatibus Medical Internship provide transportation to and from Austria as well as room and € 290 per month as pocket money for the duration of the fellowship.
By the end of November 2003, more than 760 physicians from Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the former Soviet Union had been in Austria for over 948 internship months.
