SATELLITE SYMPOSIA

SATELLITE SYMPOSIA

Satellite Symposium is one and a half day symposium, which takes place in the region and is taught by U.S. and/or Austrian faculty of the Medical Seminars International. The Satellite Symposia are jointly organized by the local Soros Foundation and/or local Open Medical Club and the AAF. One day is dedicated to lectures and case presentations (faculty and fellows), and half a day is allocated to visiting hospitals.
Goal:
To reach a larger audience of physicians and health care workers, learn about local conditions and to foster relationships between senior physicians in the region and U.S. and Austrian faculty members and seminar alumni. To widen the reach of the Salzburg Medical Seminars International, the American Austrian Foundation and the Open Society Institute send faculty to countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union to lecture on-site to a larger audience of local physicians. Seminar faculty are able to witness firsthand local conditions of institutions providing health care in CEE and NIS, thus allowing them to better assess the needs of the doctors and their patients in these countries. The knowledge gained by faculty will be used to improve future Salzburg Medical Seminars.
Eligibility of Participants.
